Philosophy Society

The home of sharp thinking

HJS is famous for its philosophers. In our lunchtime club, children have an opportunity to explore big questions in a slightly smaller group than in Mr Barber's philosophy lessons. We usually kick off with a "Thunk" to get things going, then a story or a picture which generates the Big Question of the day.

Big Questions

These are some of the questions we have discussed in the past.

  • Is lying always bad?
  • Can you learn too much?
  • We can invent artificial intelligence, but should we?
  • What is a child?
  • What makes me me?
  • What is fair?
  • Who is afraid of the big bad wolf?
