Year 5 week 1 closure activities


Hello everyone!

 

It’s been an unusual week, hasn’t it? We hope you, and your families, have been able to enjoy some of this lovely sunshine. 

 

As you probably know, your teachers are doing a bit of everything at the moment: some of us are in school looking after the children of key workers and others are working from home, filling up the HJS Workspace page with exciting activities to keep you learning. We’re also looking after our own families, finding  ways to keep everyone healthy, happy and connected. 

 

One great way for us all to stay connected is for as many children in Year 5 to try the daily 9am Joe Wicks 30 minute PE workout. It’s Live on YouTube: but ask a parent for permission to access it first please. We think you’ll enjoy knowing that every time you attempt a ‘running man’ or ‘burpee’, your teachers are doing exactly the same! 

 

By now, you should be thinking of doing some activities from the Y5 Workspace in the exercise book we sent home. There are suggested activities for all areas of the curriculum, so you can easily fit them into your daily routine.

 

On the subject of daily routines, here’s one suggestion for a daily routine you might like to follow:

 

Before 9am

Wake up

Usual morning routine

9.00- 9.30am

Joe Wickes PE lesson 

Tune into: The Body Coach TV (You Tube, live daily PE lesson)

9.30- 10.00

Chore time

Help your parents and carers out

10.00 - 12.00

Home Learning time

English and Maths tasks from Workspace

12.00 - 1.00

Creative Time

Drawing, crafting, play music, cook or bake

1.00

Lunch

 

2.00 - 3.00

Quiet Time

Read a book, do a puzzle, try some ideas from the Wellbeing section of Workspace.

3.00 - 4.00

Home Learning Time

More tasks from Workspace, you could try Handwriting, Topic, Science or Art. Maybe take a look at the Website list on Workspace for some great educational sites.

4.00 - 5.00

Afternoon Fresh Air

Ride a bike, go for a run, have a walk, sit in the garden

5.00  - 6.00

Dinner

 

6.00 - 7.30

Free time

Well done!

7.30 onwards

Quiet time

Slowing down, having a bath/shower, getting ready for a good night’s sleep.
