Year 4 Update 21/01/2020

What beautiful winter weather we are experiencing this week! Please ensure your child/ren come in with appropriate clothing. Despite the weather, cycle training is continuing and children are enjoying learning cycle proficiency in the safe setting of our playground.

We are launching a writing competition-more details to follow! In English, we are continuing to write our descriptive narratives, using all our learned literary devices for this genre, including sensational sentence starters (V.S.P.A.C.E.), powerful verbs and appropriate adverbs and noun-adjective pairs.

In Maths, we are dividing, using partitioning and then the 'bus-stop' method. Every Tuesday lunchtime we are offering 'Times Table Club' in class 9. This is from 12.10-12.30, but children can stay for a shorter time if they like. It is an informal session that allows children to use resources and spend some time learning their multiplication tables. Please encourage your child/ren to attend.

Spelling words this week are words with the 'ay' sound (eigh, ey and ay).

Many thanks, Year 4 team
