Year 4 Homework

How can you support learning at home?

Reading

We would like children to read out loud at home to someone at least three times a week, and they should be reading something every day.

Spelling

Spelling Log Books

During their spelling lessons, children will write words that they need to learn each week in their Spelling Log Book, which they will bring home with them. Parents are asked to help them learn these words and test them at home. Children will test each other in school, and teachers will be checking to see if they spell these words correctly in their writing.

Words you should know by the end of Year 4

The National Curriculum expects children to be able to spell all of these words by the end of Year 4. Don't try to learn them all at once: check off the ones you can already do, and choose a few at a time to learn and practise at home.

Common Exception words - year 3 and 4

Maths

Children are encouraged to learn all of their times tables by the end of Year 4. We have a tables test every week.

You can practice at home by working through the Tables Whizz sheets. See if you can beat your previous best time, and get all the right answers.
