When you have to keep your distance, where better to go than the forest?
The Year 5 trip to Dean Field Study Centre went ahead this October, minus the overnight stays. The children enjoyed two days of outdoor activity - some of it in sunshine, and some in the rain, but all great fun. Each day, they left school on the coach at 8am and returned at 6:30, exhausted but with enormous smiles on their faces.
The children were divided into three groups and during the two days they had four different activities: climbing (including the leap of faith); bushcraft (including building fires and baking bread); problem solving challenges (including tunneling) and den building (including map reading and orienteering). To end the days, they were served a delicious hot meal by the Centre staff.
Sadly, Class 5 were unable to go due to a Covid lockdown. However, we are planning a special treat for them so they do not miss out.
There are lots of pictures in the Gallery on the Dean Field page on the website.
