Curriculum Design: Supporting disadvantaged pupils, including those with SEND
Our approach to SEND is rooted in the belief that inclusion is not an add-on, but a fundamental part of what we do.
'High quality teaching, differentiated for individual pupils, is the first step in responding to pupils who have or may have SEN.' (Department of Education 2015 Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice)
High-Quality Teaching and Learning for all children at our schools involves:
A well-sequenced, knowledge-rich, curriculum which has explicit vocabulary instruction and is built on the principles of cognitive science enables teachers to be ambitious about making learning accessible for all.

Some children require further adaptation. This will be outlined in SEN Support Plans.
SEN support plans follow the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle, building on children's strengths and adapting to meet their needs.
A copy of the Henleaze Infant School or Henleaze Junior School SEN Information Report outlining how we support children with SEND in our setting is available below.
Our Accessibility Policy and Plan can be found below.
If your child is joining Henleaze Infant School or Henleaze Junior School and they have SEND or you feel they may need additional support after starting school please get in contact via the email addresses below.
Teachers are the first point of contact for any pupil, including those with SEND with oversight and support form our SENDCo or outside specialists where appropriate.
