Year 6 Update

Term 2 Week 5

Well, it is beginning to feel very like Christmas, with socks being filled and hampers bursting at the seams. Thank you for all of the donations so far.

In English, we are completing our final drafts of the refugee story and will be editing and publishing as the week goes on. In maths, we are multiplying and dividing fractions.

We are now beginning the DT project which means designing and making a Christmas tree decoration using sewing skills (for families who do not celebrate Christmas, the sewing can be winter themed).

The children will need to bring in pieces of material (we are encouraging them to reuse and upcycle wherever possible, so these can be pieces of old clothing- T-shirts/shirts, sheets or felt ). They will also need needles, pins, cotton, buttons/ other decorative bits and a piece of ribbon to be used as the hanger. We would also appreciate it if the pupils could bring in another piece of scrap material to practice their stitches on, as we will be beginning this next week.

Finally, it would be fantastic if we could have some volunteers on Wednesday, 18th to help the pupils with their sewing project. You do not have to be an expert, just able to thread a needle or tie a knot. Grandparents are very welcome, too. If you are able, please email the school to let us know whether you could do a morning or afternoon slot.

Thank you...and merry Christmas!
