Y6 17.10.17

Key messages from the year 6 team from the 7th week of term.

This week in English, we have been working hard to improve and edit our newspaper reports to get them perfected before the print deadline on Friday. We have enjoyed writing from a journalist’s point of view and have become experts on legal jargon!

In maths, we have been working on 'special numbers' including multiples, factors and primes and will have a tricky piece of homework to think about over the holidays – try and really push yourselves to find examples of 3 digit primes that can be written as the sum of two squares e.g. 337 is the sum of 162 and 92 . What about 269?

We will be checking Reading Record sheets after half term looking for stretch and breadth of reading. We will be getting a copy of each of the recommended books for our class libraries after half term. These will have a different sticker (colour still under debate) and will need to be signed out so we can keep track of who is really challenging themselves!

In spelling, we are finally finished with suffixes and are looking at the –sh sound spelt ti- or ci- as in explanation or ancient.

Have a lovely half term and we look forward to seeing you all rested and ready for Term 2!
